Born 1989 in Tappahannock, Virginia, Christopher Maurice “Chris” Brown is undoubtedly one of the greatest singers, songwriter, and dancers of the 21st century. Before coming into the limelight, Chris Brown participated in local talent shows and church choir from a tender age. In 2004, Brown signed with Jive Records, releasing his debut album the next year. His career seemed to take a sudden rise after his album became the number one on the US Billboard 200. Later on, Recording Industry Association (RIIA) double platinum certified the album that saw Brown sell over three million copies worldwide. “Run it”, his first album topped the US Billboard 100, making him the second male to top the chart with his debut single, after Diddy in 1997. Chris Brown topped the Hot 100 with his song “Kiss Kiss”, in addition to “Forever” and “With You” from his 2007 album, “Exclusive”. RIAA also double platinum certified Brown’s second album, making him one of the fastest rising stars at the time. Chris Brown has collaborated with several artists such as; rapper Bow Wow, singer Jordin Sparks, T-Pain, and Lil Mama. In 2009, Brown was all over the media after pleading guilty to felony assault of singer Rihanna, his then-girlfriend. He was sentenced to six months of community service and five years of probation. “Graffiti”, his third album was released later that year, and included “I Can Transform Ya”, the top twenty single. He topped the Billboard 200 for the first time with his 2011 album “F.A.M.E.” The album also earned him his first Grammy Award for Best R&B Album at the Grammy’s 54th Awards. In 2012, he released his fifth album, “Fortune.” “X” and “Royalty” are Brown’s latest albums, released in 2014 and 2015 respectively. Apart from his music career, he has featured in various films since 2007 to 2013.
